The kinds of concrete

According to cement materials : ①inorganic gel material concrete,such as cement concrete, aster concrete, silicate concrete and sodiumsilicate concrete. ②organic cementing material concrete,such as bituminous concrete and polymer concrete。
According to the unit weight: ①high density concrete,whose unit weight is 2600~5500Kg/m3,ever larger;②ordinary concrete,whose unit weight is 2400Kg/m3;③light concrete,whose unit weight is 500~1900Kg/m3, includeslight aggregate concrete, porous concrete and big hole concrete.
According to the function: structural concrete, insulation concrete, architectural concrete, waterproof concrete, fireproof concrete, hydraulic concrete, marine engineering concrete, road concrete and radiation shield concrete, etc.

The raw materials of concrete

The inorganic gel materials,such as cement, lime and gypsum, are mixed with water and the concrete mixture features with plasticity. Through chemical action and physical action, the concrete mix becomes cemented and indurated to produce strength.
Generally speaking, the drinking water can meet the requirements of the concrete mixture. The excessive amounts of acid, alkali, salt and organic matter in the water will produce harmful effects for concrete. The aggregate has filling effect and has an important impact on the properties of concrete, such as bulk density, strength and deformation,etc.
The additive can be added to improve certain properties of concrete. For the additive has the obvious technical economic effect, the additive becomes an indispensable part of concrete day by day. In the concrete mixing, the admixture - the fine grinding mineral materials, can be added to improve the workability of concrete mix and the performance of the hardened concrete. It is divided into two types, the active and the un-active. The nature and quantity of the admixture have an effect on the strength, deformation, the hydration heat, penetration-proof quality and color of the concrete.

The processing technology and preparation of concrete

Design of mix proportion

In the preparation of concrete,according to the requirements of the engineering, such as workability, strength and durability, the raw materials should be chosen reasonably and the propotion should be confirmed to achieve the economical and applicable purpose.


According to the different requirements and conditions in construction, the concrete can be concentrated mixed in the construction site or station. Automatic fall type mixer can be used for the concrete mixture whose liquidity is better. Mandatory mixer is used for the concrete mixture whose liquidity is lower or the harsh concrete. Before mixed, the materials should be prepared according to the proportion and the weighting error should be controlled. Both the mixing procedure and time have influence on concrete quality so that the mixing procedure and time should be under strict control to make various components well-proportioned.

Transmission and irrigation built

Transmission and irrigation built: the concrete mixture can be transported to the construction site by hopper, rubber belt conveyor or mixing truck. The way of built filling can could use manual work or the mechanical work. Using the concrete pump to transport and irrigate concrete mixture, this method features with high efficiency, which can reach hundreds of cubic meters per hour. Both the cast-in-site concrete engineering and prefabricated part, should confirm the density of the irrigation built concrete . The methods mainly consist of : vibration puddling, centrifugation, extrusion and vacuum operation. The vibration can be left out if the liquid concrete is mixed with some efficient water reducer.


The main purpose of the maintenance is to create the proper temperature and humidity conditions so that the harden speed of normal concrete can be confirmed or sped up. Different maintenance methods of concrete have different effects on the performance of concrete. The common maintenance methods consist of: natural maintenance, steam curing, dry hot and humid maintenance, autoclaved maintenance, the electric heating maintenance, infrared maintenance and solar maintenance. The curing period is the time of maintenance. In order to be compared with conveniently, the rule is that test specimens for determining the concrete performance must be maintained in standard conditions. The standard condition of maintenance in China is that: temperature is 20±3℃, the humidity is no less than 90%.
